Michael D. Talerico.

HIGHLIGHTS OF EXPERIENCE:

Mr. Talerico, Principal and President of Delta Health Systems, Inc., brings more than 35 years experience to this position, gained from marketing and managing major consulting projects designed to improve operating costs.

Before Delta, Mr. Talerico was President of the Management Services Group of a major consulting firm. In this position, he was responsible for the marketing and operations of both industrial and healthcare projects.

Earlier, Mr. Talerico was Executive Vice President of Operations for an international consulting firm. He was responsible for operations throughout North America, South America and Mexico. During his time with this firm, Mr. Talerico managed important assignments for such organizations as ConRail, Amtrak, Southern Pacific Railroad, the New York City Transit Authority; the States of New Jersey, Washington, Oregon and California; Douglas Aircraft Company and the Ford Motor Company. He directed, as well, numerous hospital projects, ranging from fifty-bed hospitals to major healthcare systems.

Mr. Talerico has lectured on productivity in America and has conducted numerous motivational seminars. He has contributed chapters to the Management Handbook (Mali 1981) on Work Measurement and Managing the Work, and has appeared as an expert witness.

Some active memberships held by Mr. Talerico include those in the American Management Association and the Management Institute of Rowan College of New Jersey. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of California.

Mr. Young, a Principal of Delta Health Systems, Inc., has over 40 years experience in providing consulting services to business, industry and healthcare. Managing both marketing and operations has provided him with extensive proficiency in the design and implementation of Strategic Cost Management Programs for a wide range of organizations.

  • As a healthcare consultant, Mr. Young has directed the installation of improvement efforts in more than 300 healthcare institutions. His experience includes the implementation of systems for achieving correct staffing and improved service levels in community hospitals, healthcare systems and academic medical centers, ranging in size from 50 to 1600 beds.

  • Mr. Young has conducted a significant number of training workshops designed to advance the management capabilities of supervisors and front-line managers. He has spoken at numerous conventions and seminars on the role of management in improving organizational effectiveness.

Brian Bennett.

Mr. Bennett has over 15 years of healthcare consulting experience. During these years, he has implemented Strategic Cost Management Programs in more than 40 healthcare institutions, working in the technical and support areas. Prior to this, he was an experienced productivity/quality analyst, having served in both business and industry.

William R. Cummings.

  • As a Senior Associate with Delta, Mr. Cummings has implemented improvement efforts in more than 60 hospitals. His background includes numerous assignments in the financial, insurance and healthcare fields.

  • Mr. Cummings has trained in-house management teams in the perpetuation of installed resource management systems. He has demonstrated proficiency in work redesign and process improvement, as well as in the installation of Management Action Plans to reduce costs and improve service.

Ann M. Haldeman, R.N..

Ms. Haldeman has over 25 years experience in healthcare, both as a nursing executive and as a consultant. She has achieved progressively, increasing responsibilities in the nursing areas. Ms. Haldeman was Director of Nursing of a 212-bed facility.

  • As a Senior Associate with Delta, Ms. Haldeman is responsible for the installation of Strategic Cost Management Programs in all nursing areas. She has implemented patient acuity systems, quality assurance efforts and management reporting systems. Her areas of responsibility also include Food and Nutrition, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Risk Management, and Quality Management.

  • Prior to joining Delta, Ms. Haldeman was Director of Nursing of a 212-bed sub-acute and long term facility, where she was responsible for all aspects of care delivery integration. She was also responsible for the development and management of patient and staff educational programs. She directed the redesign of patient care delivery systems, including the implementation of a care management program.

  • Ms. Haldeman has led efforts to prepare for JCAHO, including the development of policies and conducting mock surveys. She has had extensive experience in CQI techniques, which included increased departmental participation in performance improvement activities. Top of Page

  • Ms. Hopkins was Director of Quality Management for a large healthcare system, with total responsibility for utilization management, social work, infection control, clinical risk management, performance improvement and medical staff services.

  • Ms. Hopkins has directed efforts in organizational improvement, outcomes-based case management and accreditation compliance. Ms. Lawrence has over 25 years experience as a healthcare executive and consultant. She has been a Staff Nurse, Nurse Manager, Vice President of Patient Care and Chief Operating Officer throughout her career. During her tenure she has led several organizations in change management, resulting in improved customer service and financial performance.

  • As a Senior Associate with Delta, Ms. Lawrence is responsible for the installation of Strategic Cost Management Programs in all nursing areas. She has installed patient acuity systems in floor nursing areas, as well as other programs in the Emergency and Surgery areas.

  • Ms. Lawrence has installed Continuous Improvement/Quality Management Programs in several healthcare facilities. She has established and implemented key metrics, goals and tracking systems for measuring successful results.

  • Ms. Lawrence developed a "shared services model" of management by analyzing operations, defining system inefficiencies and instituting organizational improvements. Ms. Lawson has over 20 years experience in healthcare, as a staff nurse, Director of Nursing Systems and Senior Vice President of Nursing. She had excellent academic achievements and was a member of an Honor Society.

  • As a Senior Associate with Delta, Ms. Lawson is responsible for the implementation of Strategic Cost Management Programs. She has worked in all floor nursing areas, as well as in the Surgery and Emergency areas.

  • She has been Vice President of Nursing at a 250-bed, acute care hospital and at a 450-bed facility. At both, she redefined the RN role, which led to staff/management development of a new care delivery system. Ms. Lawson initiated utilization management tactics that decreased ALOS by 15%-40%.

  • Ms. Lawson has been responsible for re-engineering efforts in the ambulatory and inpatient areas, which resulted in a decrease of cost per unit of service. She is experienced in the standardization and merging of practices, protocols and policies in the nursing areas. Top of Page

  • Ms. McCafferty has functioned in several roles in the area of quality management. Her last assignment, as a director, included responsibility for performance improvement, education, employee health, infection control, medical staff peer review and regulatory compliance affairs. She has directed efforts for JCAHO, CAP and trauma designation surveys at a large medical center.

  • As Director of Nursing Resource, Ms. McCafferty was responsible for the fiscal management of a 300-bed community hospital. She implemented new staffing standards, position control, skill mix evaluation and daily use of a staffing matrix. She has had extensive experience as an in-service educator for the nursing areas. Richard L. Ray.

Mr. Ray has over 30 years experience and demonstrated leadership in the healthcare field. He has implemented Strategic Cost Management Programs for a variety of private and public hospitals. Mr. Ray has served as an executive in healthcare and has extensive expertise as a healthcare consultant.

  • As a Senior Associate for Delta, he has installed programs in all clinical and support areas. He has worked in Surgery areas, redesigning case scheduling, inventory and patient flow systems. Mr. Ray has extensive experience in service level and management reporting systems.

  • Mr. Ray began his career as a medical technologist, having received his B.S. degree in Biology. He subsequently became a Laboratory Director after serving as supervisor of Microbiology and Hematology.

  • Mr. Ray has implemented workload management and decentralized distribution strategies for a large hospital pharmacy. Additionally, he has installed redesign strategies and process improvement efforts for rural hospital networks.

  • He has also implemented start up practice management for several primary and specialty care practices. Mr. Ray has assisted in negotiating physician contracts and in the recruitment of physicians for several hospital systems.

Mr. Talerico has 11 years of healthcare consulting experience installing Strategic Cost Management Programs. As Vice President of Operations he is responsible for over-site of all Delta consulting engagements. He has developed a web based application for Delta's Management Reporting System (MRS) and is responsible for all installations of Delta's software. His areas of expertise include the education of hospital management in achieving identified productivity improvements.

  • Mr. Talerico has conducted strategic productivity initiatives in both clinical and non-clinical areas. These included review of process, flow and layout, as well as service requirements to ensure high quality.

  • He has assisted in detailed organizational studies of various sized hospitals and healthcare facilities, including analysis, review and implementation of these efforts, which have resulted in significant cost savings to the institutions.

  • During his time with Delta, Mr. Talerico managed important assignments for such organizations as Baylor University Medical Center, Ochsner Clinic Foundation, Wellmont Health System, Memorial Hermann Health System, and OhioHealth.

  Joseph D. Vargas, Pharm.D.

HIGHLIGHTS OF EXPERIENCE:

Dr. Vargas has over 20 years experience as a staff pharmacist, Doctor of Pharmacy, and consultant. He has worked with both healthcare institutions and managed care facilities. He is highly proficient in the area of Continuous Quality Improvement, having chaired the Quality Improvement Team (QIT)-implementing the Quality Improvement Process in hospitals and teaching Quality Awareness Experience (QAE) to hospital employees.

  • As a Senior Associate with Delta, Dr. Vargas is responsible for the implementation of Strategic Cost Management Programs in all professional areas. Additionally, he directs process improvement efforts for the company.

  • Beginning his career as a staff pharmacist, his responsibilities included therapeutic drug monitoring, pharmacokinetic dosing, managing anticoagulation therapy and neuromuscular blocker therapy protocols, and monitoring appropriate antibiotic therapy on ICU, CCU, Med/Surg, Telemetry, Orthopedic and Oncology/Hematology floors.

  • Dr. Vargas was subsequently promoted to Director of Pharmaceutical Services of a 200-bed hospital, where he managed the hospital pharmacy, as well as a retail pharmacy located in the hospital lobby. He was responsible for performance evaluations, establishing short-term and long-term personal and departmental goals and objectives, determining capital and operational budgets, recruitment, guiding staff development, and implementing a continuous quality improvement process.
