Mike Talerico and Hal Young had worked together for eight years with an international consulting firm prior to starting Delta. Their vision was to provide a unique hospital-consulting firm comprised of seasoned professionals dedicated to implementing systems designed to provide a cadre of superb first-line managers for a client organization. This foundation would thus position client hospitals to be the high quality, low cost provider.

The Founders initial strategic objectives centered around the following:

• Concentration on support for first line managers;

• Employment of experienced healthcare professionals;

• No risk guarantees; and

• Perpetuation of results with systems built into the fabric of the organization.
